The Department administers a grants program on behalf of the Attorney General drawing on funds collected under the Criminal Property Confiscation Act 2000.
Criminal money and property is seized by the Police and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Grants can only be used to prevent or reduce drug-related crime and drug abuse, support crime victims and to aid law enforcement.

The outcome of the current funding round was announced by the Attorney General on 29 January 2013.
Forty-eight applications were received. Twelve approved projects, worth $1.94 million in total, have been offered funding. More information is available in the successful projects below.
